Affiliate Income from Various Sources
Affiliate income can come from various types of transactions. Merchants offer affiliates different avenues in which to earn income. In addition, some merchants offer a combination of revenue or payment types. Below are some of the more common types of income transactions:
• Pay Per Sale. In this payment type a sale is made when a potential customer goes to a merchant site from a link on your site and makes a purchase from the merchant site. • Pay Per Click. This is when a merchant pays an affiliate a set amount each time a user clicks on the merchant link on your site. • Pay Per Call. You guessed it. Affiliates get paid on a per call basis. Each time the merchant receives a call that is generated from your site, you get an agreed upon amount. • Pay Per Lead. When a user goes to a merchants site from a link on your site and follows the merchant’s direction, e.g., fill out a contact form, or requesting more information, the affiliate gets an agreed upon payment. Each of the payment types will generate different amounts of income based on merchant offerings and demand. As an example, a merchant might pay an affiliate anywhere between $.05 and $12.50 under a pay per click program. Under a pay per sale program, payments may be a flat amount or percentage of the amount of the sale. Also, keep in mind that some merchants offer a combination of payment types.
