This is also know as doing business under a fictitious name. Generally, Registration of this name is required when:a. You’re a sole proprietor and you operate under a name other than your own name b. An entity such as an LLC or Corporation is using a name other than its legal name It should also be noted that most financial institutions such as banks require a "Doing Business As" name be registered in order to open an account.
